Our story.

“Finding the GOOD in the bad.”

The idea for this journal came out many hard struggles with BOTH my parents battling cancer. My father, J.T. Richard, had pancreatic cancer and lost his fight in 2016. My mother was diagnosed with lung cancer nine months later and is a survivor.

As a way to feel some sense of control in the situation, I organized their care with two prototypes of this journal - not knowing it was a part of a bigger plan. My brothers and I relied on their Medical Journals to know what medications they had taken, what the doctor said as we shared hospital shifts and their symptoms on any given day. It was truly peace of mind for us, as both parents lived alone and wanted to preserve their independence. But it turned into so much more than a journal…

Every year, on my dad’s birthday, I use his Medical Journal to reminisce and spend the day knee-deep in memories. Being able to read and re-read notes we had written about his last days, funny things he had said, childhood stories he shared and his wishes - have helped me heal from losing my best friend.

So it was put on my heart to share this journal with others to not only help you through the hard stuff - but to allow you to create one place to hold priceless memories for years to come. I truly believe that out of everything bad, comes something good - you just have to look for it.
